Drastic Measures

After a tough few months, I thought I needed a change - a fresh start - so on a whim I had my hair stylist at Ponytails + Horsehoes cut 6" off my locks and it feels sooooo good! I also went a little bit lighter for the summer. My hair hasn't been this short since 2008. It was about time! Now I just have to figure out how to style it ; ).

Blue On Blue On Blue

I'm all for comfortable outfits these days! To be honest with you if I had a choice between wearing a girly dress and  high heels or non-tight pants, a comfy tee and flats, I'd pick the latter, hands down. I like wearing outfits I can breathe in and wear the whole day, like this one I wore on the weekend.

Plain White Tee

There's something so classic about a clean, white t-shirt paired with jeans.

An End In Sight

I don't want to speak too soon but I think winter might be on its way out which is just fine by me! I'm
SO ready to move my parka to the back of my closet ; ).

The Problem With Wool

So I've had a black wool winter coat (seen here) for a few years now and although it's nice and all, I don't like that it attracts hair of all kinds - my hair, my cat's hair, my friend's hair if they hug me while I'm wearing it, etc. - you get my drift. I got tired of constantly using a lint brush on it and the buttons were starting to fall off so I decided it was time for a new one ; ). I had had my eye on this fitted down Mackage jacket for a very long time, I like that it's dressier but could be worn casually as well. And it's NOT WOOL! And it's WARM! And it has a HOOD! Triple score! So I bit the bullet and ordered it and I'm happy I did. Mackage is a Canadian brand and they just get us Canadians. We want to look STYLISH while we're freezing our arse's off and the designers at Mackage definitely understand this ; )

2015

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a nice Christmas : ). I took a week and a half off from work and blogging and it was glorious! We all need a little break once in awhile and I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing, visiting with family and friends and sleeping in every day until 10:30 a.m. (yes I can still sleep like a teenager, please tell me I'm not the only one in their thirties who does this!) Besides wearing pajamas during my break, this outfit was my go-to holiday uniform - warm and festive ; ).

And now I'm back to the daily grind, like I'm sure most of you are. I'm not going to lie, I feel a little sad the holidays are over but I'm also looking forward to what 2015 will bring. I wish you all the best this year! Make it a good one ; )

wearing: sweater - LOFT, plaid shirt and jeans - Joe Fresh,
purse - Forever 21, booties - Steve Madden, necklace - blogger sale, ring - ?

Stylist's Tip: Take your look from drab to fab by pairing a bold statement necklace with a collared shirt. Keep the rest of your outfit simple so that the necklace is the focus. And never be afraid to add a bold lip color, too!

Grey Matters

One thing I love about fall fashion is layering. When you live in a crazy-cold climate like I do, layering is a must to keep warm! My scarf collection is growing and my latest addition is this cozy Chandi infinity scarf I picked up at Bamboo Ballroom on my birthday last week and since it was my bday this purchase was totally warranted ; ) I chose to pair it with my classic leather jacket I bought at Nordstrom Rack a year ago while in California for 50% off (score!) I have to admit that I love wearing black and grey, I'd say 75% of my closet is made up of clothing in this monochromatic scheme. It's just so easy to mix these neutral colors with other pieces. What about you? Do you like wearing more neutral colors or brighter hues or both? ; )

Stylist Tip: You don't need to spend an arm and a leg on a leather/faux leather jacket, there are many out there for under $100.00.  If I didn't already have a leather jacket in my closet, I'd be picking up this one from Zara, in stores, (I checked this morning and it's sold out online! It was still there yesterday...darn it!)
