8 Months: Pregnancy Update

I can't believe I'm 8 months pregnant. Seriously, where has the time gone? And where have my abs gone??

How far along? 34 weeks/8 months (!!!)

Best moment this week? Feeling baby doing somersaults in my belly and punching and kicking. His movements are way more intense and stronger now and I feel them all over, especially in my ribs. He is one active little fella! I can also feel body parts when I place my hand on my belly sometimes, although I don't know what they are and I can't figure out what position he's in. My husband can feel and even see him move around, too, very easily. And I swear baby had the hiccups one morning! I heard this can happen and that mom is able to feel it. So cute.

Symptoms? Swollen legs and feet, leg cramps, interrupted sleep, frequent trips to the bathroom during the day AND night. My acne has gotten better though so that's good. My OBGYN also increased my thyroid medication because the lower dosage wasn't doing much and I think that has helped with my energy, although I can still sleep 10-12 hours on the weekends, like a teenaged BEAST ; )

Activity? I mentioned this on Instagram last week - I took a nasty fall on some icy, snowy steps while in the mountains a couple of weeks ago for a wedding. (Scared the cr*p outta me.) I fell on my tailbone/butt, thank goodness, but I messed up my back and bruised my ribs so I've been in quite a lot of pain. It hurts to sneeze, laugh, to get up, twist, lift, use my abs, etc. I've been seeing my chiropractor and talked to my OBGYN and I have to rest as much as I can for another 2-4 weeks, no physical activity and no lifting. There's not much you can do for bruised ribs unfortunately. My husband has been really great helping me out around the house and letting me boss him around ; ). Anyways, I'm not doing any exercise right now and I hate it! I really miss barre and being active. But of course I have to take care of myself and the baby. I'm hoping to heal up fast and be able to get back to class soon.

A couple of classy bathroom selfies ; ) These photos were taken within 1.5 weeks of
each other, on the left I'm 32 weeks, on the right 33. He's growing a LOT!

Food cravings? Chocolate and eggs.

Food aversions? Not really.

Weight gain? 35-ish lbs. I bet 10 lbs of that weight gain is just in my knockers!

Stretch marks? Only in my right arm pit. (Dang it!) I've still been using my homemade belly butter as well as Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion (reviewed here.)

Gender? It's a boy : )

Labor signs? No, not for at least another 6 weeks I hope. We still have lots to do before the Prince arrives! Speaking of labor, we've been learning ALL about it in our prenatal classes and watching videos of women about to give birth, and what pain management options are available, etc. and it's kinda scary if I'm being honest with you. My husband says HE'LL need morphine just to get through it!

Belly button in or out? I don't know, I don't even really recognize it anymore...?

What do I miss? Sleeping on my stomach, back, my right side. Since I injured my right set of ribs, I can only sleep on my left side at night. I'm used to switching sides multiple times a night so I don't have very comfortable sleeps! I also miss wearing regular clothes. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on maternity clothes so I currently don't have a huge wardrobe to choose from and I'm getting a bit bored of it. And my favorite Poppy Barley boots don't fit right now thanks to my swollen legs and cankles. But this is alllll worth it, I know!

What I'm looking forward to? Setting up the nursery (our furniture is on back-order until a few days before baby's due date - yikes - and we ordered it at Christmas time, why it's taking so long I don't know), getting everything ready, and meeting my baby boy, holding him in my arms, seeing who he looks like.... Also, I'm looking forward to my husband meeting him : ). He's been reading books to my belly (mostly Dr. Seuss), getting the baby used to his Dad's voice. I can't believe we'll be PARENTS soon, it's surreal.

Milestones? Definitely feeling his strong, intense movements.

Bump? Getting bigger!

I hope you're all having a great week so far! Thanks for reading : )
