Closet Organization During Pregnancy and Weight Fluctuation

jacket - Maison Scotch via Shopbop (old), top - Motherhood Maternity, jeans - Thyme Maternity, scarf - Chandi via Bamboo Ballroom,
clutch - Topshop (old), boots - Vince Camuto via Designer Shoe Warehouse (in the states), ring - Simons

I can no longer wear regular pants or tops (unless they're a size or a couple of sizes larger and/or really long) now that my belly is growing fast. This past weekend I packed up all the blouses, t-shirts, sweaters and bottoms that won't fit me for the next few months so now my closet only has pieces that will flatter my pregnancy figure ; ).

I took my own advice, the same advice I give my styling clients when, for example, they've gained 10 or 20 pounds but still have a ton of clothing in their closet from when they were at their "skinny weight" or "goal weight" - remove them and get them outta sight and outta mind. Put them in a spare closet or tuck them away into drawers and focus on what you can wear now. If you do end up losing weight, the clothes will still be there for you but only keep pieces that fit you currently, in your closet. Why clutter your space with items that don't fit you NOW? Leaving clothes hanging in your closet as a constant reminder that they used to fit is not good for your self-esteem, either! If you honestly believe you will fit into your "skinny clothes" again, in the near future, keep them, but only the pieces that are in good condition. If not (and be real with yourself) then out with the old and in with the new! Bring the perfect fitted clothing into your life that you can wear NOW. And feel good when you get dressed every morning, get excited about your wardrobe!

I am optimistic that I'll be able to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes after the baby comes but there's no pressure to do so, since all of my "skinny clothes" are packed away in boxes for the time being ; ) Now I have to get creative on how to dress my burgeoning bump without spending too much money on maternity clothes. Stay tuned!

I hope you have a great week!
