Life, Lately

I'm sorry my blog posts have been sporadic, it's been a busy past few weeks for me but I am back on track now ; ). I didn't have time to take any outfit photos this week so I thought I'd fill you all in on what I've been up to lately instead! Clockwise starting from top left: After about 6 years, I finally got new glasses, Sandy and I and Janis and Vickie at the Every Woman Festival a few weeks ago, watching the F/W 2014 LUXX Ready to Wear show at Western Canada Fashion Week (so good!) and with my date Anton (and his cute chelsea boots, on the right) in the audience.

A few weeks ago I appeared on Global Edmonton's Morning Show with Lorraine Mansbridge talking about kids' and teens' spring fashions at West Edmonton Mall, which was a lot of fun. I styled the outfits using clothing from The Children's Place, Simons and Below the Belt. And funny story: when I was around 8 years old I modeled on Lorraine's show she had at the time called 'Good, Good Morning' and we were reunited again many, many years later for this fashion segment. ; )

And this past Tuesday I got to work on the television series 'Blackstone', playing a nurse (again lol.) I had auditioned many times for this show (it's in its 4th season) and was happy to finally book a principal role! I had a couple of fun scenes with one of the main characters who was a hoot to work with. The episode will air this fall : ).

I hope you're all having a great week! Happy almost-Friday!

The Best of Western Canada Fashion Week

These are my top picks from Western Canada Fashion Week March 2013. Not only are they all gorgeous pieces but they are completely wearable off the runway. (You can actually see me in the audience in a couple of the photos drooling over them and thinking, "Hmmmm...How can I get my hands on that as soon as possible?!") These outfits satisfy my craving for beautiful, minimalistic, well-cut clothing. And can I just say, how talented are the designers we have in Alberta?!! I can't wait to see what else they all have up their sleeves! To see more pictures and coverage from Western Canada Fashion Week, click here.

Lately...

Clockwise starting from top left: 1. Nicole Campre's A/W 2013 show at Western Canada Fashion Week. 2. More of her gorgeous designs. 3. I was featured in this month's Where Magazine along with my friends Janis and Vickie. 4. I had a goal of doing Yoga 3-4 times a week (and I was meeting it!) but last week my hip came out of place and now it's off to physio I go! : (
1. I bought a Breville juicer! I love the juice I make but it's a pain in the ass to clean! But it's so worth it. 2. I received skincare from GM Collin and Yonka, I'll be doing reviews of both lines so stay tuned! 3. Funny story about this shovel: My 4 year old nephew had scribbled on his parents' garage with permanent marker so to hide it, he put a snow shovel over the graffiti. Smart kid! 4. Breakfast for dinner!

1. Breakfast Television (click here to read more about it and see the clip.) 2. Wearing my Zara necklace for Western Canada Fashion Week. 3. With my friends Janis and Jessica at Malorie Urbanovitch's A/W 2013 fashion show last week. Click here to see my coverage. 4. Malorie's beautiful designs.

My silly cat, Prints Whiskerson Sultenfuss The First. Such a weird, feisty, at times hostile and vicious yet lovable, silly and cuddly furry creature! Basically, she's schizophrenic. I'm 100% serious.

Have a great long weekend and Happy Easter!

Fashion Week

maxi dress + necklace - H & M, studded jean jacket - Zara, heels - Aldo, bag- Christopher Kon

Western Canada Fashion Week started last Thursday and this is what I wore for the second night. I was really excited to wear my new denim jacket from Zara which I fell in love with while doing some back-to-school shopping. Note: I didn't  really go back to school but can I call myself a student of the School of Life? To justify all of my fall shopping? Okay, thanks.

Left: In the front row ready for another season. Right: The gorgeous Sandy Joe and I

The designer who stood out the most for me the first couple of nights was MC College student Breann Baretta of 'Baretta.' I loved her beautifully-crafted, feminine designs. I could see myself wearing both of these pieces. Aren't they gorgeous?

I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of the designer collections this week! And to see all of my fellow bloggers of course ; ).

I hope you all had a great weekend!

That's a Wrap! The Last Days of Western Canada Fashion Week

Another successful season of Western Canada Fashion Week ended Thursday night and I know I'm late in posting this but I wanted to highlight the designers that really stood out for me on the last three days. (To see highlights from the beginning of the week click here.) First up: Malorie Urbanovitch who never disappoints! Her F/W 2012 collection was full of beautiful pieces in earthy tones and forest greens. Click here to see the video.

I adored this skirt. I have to say as much as I liked this collection, my favorite designs of Malorie's are from her Spring/Summer 2012 line which, lucky for me (and other Edmontonians) is now available at Coup Boutique!

I really enjoyed Derek Jagodzinsky's F/W 2012 LUXX collection, which was very structured and cohesive, with a perfect color palette for the season. What I love about Derek's designs is that they are always gorgeous, modern and absolutely wearable.

I loved the jackets in Calgarian Aleem Arif's Bano eeMee F/W line. They were beautifully constructed. I especially want that jacket on the left! ; )

My favorite collection this season was Angelique Chmielewski's. A native Edmontonian, she is now living in New York after studying at the world-famous Fashion Institute of Technology. Her F/W 2012 creations hit the runway on the closing night of WCFW and wowed the audience. I mean, look at these clothes!

I could see myself wearing every single piece! I seriously died and went to designer heaven Thursday night in the front row of Angelique's show watching the models float down the catwalk in her exquisite silhouette's. I really can't say enough good things about this designer and I can't wait to see where she'll be five years from now.

And here are some pics off the runway:

Here I am with the adorable Alyssa and the dapper Kurtis from The Ordinary Peoples.

Hairstylists Lauren Hughes and Kirsten Klontz who did the hair for both Malorie and Angelique's shows.

Bloggers extraordinaire Sandy from The Pretty Secrets and Janis of Dress Me Dearly on closing night.

Now that Fashion Week is over my life can get back to normal and I can catch up on simple things like sleep! I do love seeing my blogger friends every night and watching the talent on the runway but WCFW is 8 days long every season and I think it could definitely be shortened to 4 or 5 days. That's my two cents.

I hope you had a great Easter weekend! Unfortunately I have to work today : (. To be honest with you I'd rather be at home eating leftover chocolate and watching movies on the couch. Or shopping : ). Both would suit me just fine right about now.

Fashion Week Highlights + A Giveaway Winner

blouse - Winners, blazer - vintage Anne Klein, jeans - American Eagle,

photos by le boyfriend

Western Canada Fashion Week is now in full swing and this is what I wore Saturday night to take in one of the shows. I'm really embracing the colored denim trend for spring! I have to admit I used to shy away from bright and bold colors but not anymore! ; )

So for this post I thought I'd put together some highlights of my favorite designs I've seen so far at WCFW. Here they are in no particular order:

Stanley Carroll usually shows his women and men's collection at the same time but he separated the two this season. Thursday night this talented designer presented his women's collection and I was impressed once again. His garments are always so beautifully constructed, chic and completely wearable. I'm looking forward to viewing his men's collection this Thursday night!

Ravi Gill of DrailD made his debut at WCFW and his collection was very well-received by the audience. His Lady Gaga-esque designs were bold, unique and unexpected. I think this young lad has a very bright future ahead of him!

I adored Lisa Marie Scrioli's romantic and elegant designs.

Isabela Milan's bridal dresses left me speechless. I was in awe of her gorgeous, gorgeous gowns.

I mean, GORGEOUS!

Bloggers! Jared, WCFW's Rowena + Andrew and Vickie, moi, Kastles + Jenna.
I love how I get to see their lovely mugs every evening.

There are still four more nights left for this season at WCFW. If you're thinking of going I highly recommend getting tickets soon before they sell out! And they usually do, especially the last three nights. For ticket info click here.

And congratulations to Collifornia who won a $100 gift voucher to Asos through my giveaway! I have already contacted you! Thank you to everyone who entered. I have another giveaway coming up soon so sit tight and stay tuned for that ; ).
