Winter

Happy Wednesday! I just wanted to share some cozy winter images with you that I've been crushing on lately. I've been wearing a ton of knits lately paired with warm coats, thick scarves and toque's or beanies so I don't freeze my patooties off! What is your winter like? I live in a very cold climate and the winter season can last anywhere from 6 to 8 months, even sometimes getting a snowfall in June! I'm not kidding! The days are really short, meaning I go to work in the dark and head home when the sun is about to set, hardly getting any time outside in between unless it's the weekend. (Hence the lack of outfit post on this blog lately!) It's kind of depressing and I feel my mood is definitely affected during the long winter months, even though I exercise, get enough sleep and eat fairly well. So I bought myself a Happy Light to help with the winter blues, or S.A.D. which stands for Seasonal Affective Disorder. It's a lamp that gives off full spectrum light the body needs and activates the body's natural mood enhancers. It should be arriving on my doorstep any day now! I can't wait to try it!

Fall Photos & Inspiration

Clockwise from top left: My friend Stewey, flowers for my Grandma's 87th Birthday this past weekend, Vickie snapping photos, early Bday cupcakes from my bestie

My nephew Kayden, Kitty sleeping soundly, my fancy pants, Kitty hugging the heat vent in our bathroom. I do realize I post a lot of pictures of my cat! What can I say? She's my baby : ).

The High Level Streetcar, the view from the train, my favorite fall scarf, gourds! (What a weird name for vegetables.)

Except for the couple of days it snowed last week, I'm loving fall! It's really the prettiest season of the year, don't you think? Something else I'm loving about fall?

Just some inspirational fashion images I wanted to share with you : ). Happy Weekend! And Happy Long Weekend to my fellow Canadians! This is the first weekend in a very long time that I'll be able to relax and do whatever the heck I want! That includes finishing the captivating erotic novel I'm reading: 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' Have any of you read it? I'm sure you've heard of it, unless you've been living under a rock or a dock and hopefully you're not cause it would be really cold at night, not to mention really lonely. It's the most popular book in North America right now. It's purse smut and not written extremely well but just like a tequila bottle in my early twenties, I just can't seem to put it down! I actually put it on hold at the library but it was then banned (banned!!) from libraries so I caved and bought it at the bookstore. And I'm so glad I did ;). Have a great weekend, guys. And Canucks, don't forget to enter my la Vie en Rose lingerie giveaway!

Winter Fashion

Here's some fashion inspiration to start your week. I hope you all had a good weekend. I didn't have a very good one to be honest with you. My best friend's very close friend, whom I knew and was friendly with as well, took her life on Saturday. I've been trying to make sense of it all....It's been a shocking and rough couple of days and it's extremely hard being away from my friend (who lives in a different city) during such a difficult time. I just wish I could be there for her in person to give her a huge hug you know? I wouldn't normally mention something so personal on my blog but I needed to get this out. Life isn't always cheery and fabulous so I shouldn't pretend like it is. Thanks for listening.

Bummed

I mentioned last week on Twitter that I had driven to Calgary and back twice in less than 24 hours (that’s about 11 hours of driving) but I didn’t mention why. Well I went there because I had an audition for a lead role in a movie on the Monday, got home at 10:30 p.m. and my agent called me that night telling me I had to go back to Calgary for a callback the next day at noon! Two road trips in two days!

I knew who was directing the movie but I didn’t think he was going to be at the callback, I’m not sure why because usually the director is always there for the second audition so when Jason Priestley came out of the bathroom in the lobby I was waiting in, smiled at me and said hello I almost shit my pants. I was nervous enough for the audition itself but as soon as I knew I’d be auditioning in front of Brandon freakin’ Walsh (who has the most beautiful, clear blue eyes I’ve ever seen by the way) my anxiety sky rocketed and my hands started shaking. Still, I went into the nerve-wracking audition room filled with the producers of the movie, the casting director, camera operator, reader and of course Mr. Priestly himself, shook his hand and performed my two scenes which had him laughing. (A good sign because the scenes were supposed to be comedic.) It wasn’t my best audition because I was so nervous but I think I did an okay job.  I just wish he would have had me do both scenes over, when I had relaxed a little but I think he was satisfied with my performance the first time. Anyways, I drove home thinking what I could have done better like I always do after auditions. I had been waiting anxiously to hear if I got the role for a week during which time I fantasized about what it would be like to work with such a talented Canadian actor/director and thinking, “He has to pick me! I’m blonde and his wife is blonde! All the other girls at the call back had dark brown or black hair!” and I found out this morning the coveted role went to someone else. (Probably a brunette dammit!) My agent said a "bigger name" had been cast. Bummer, I know. It would have been such an amazing opportunity and a fun part to play! But that’s okay, another opportunity will come along soon and who knows? Maybe someday in the future I will be able to work with the dreamy J.P. And when one door closes, another one opens, right?

This could have been me!

D.I.Y. Miu Miu Nails

How cool are these Miu Miu nails? My jaw dropped when I stopped by Don't Forget the Y's blog Stop it Right Now and I thought I MUST share this with you. It takes a lot of artistic talent (and patience I'm sure) to create a set of nails as bad-ass as these!
