Drugstore Makeup Loves

The other day while I was applying my makeup I realized that more than half the products I used were drugstore brands. I am the first to admit I was a drugstore makeup snob before I started following other beauty blogs. I was a MAC-only type of girl with maybe a bit of Revlon here and there but mostly I stayed clear of the Shoppers Drug Marts and London Drugs we have here in Canada (eh?) up until a couple of years ago. My thinking was, "if it's cheap and comes from a drugstore the quality is probably less than stellar." Now I know that's not true at all! You don't have to pay a lot of money for great makeup products. My nose no longer in the air, I am now converted. Here are some of my current favorite drugstore picks I find myself using on a daily basis:

1. L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara (straight style) in Carbon Black
I recently re-discovered this mascara . It's thick but doesn't clump and makes my lashes look full and long. And dramatic. Like Sean Penn in 'Dead Man Walking' right before he dies. Sorry if I just ruined the movie for you.

2. Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin in 240 Medium Beige
I've talked about this long-lasting foundation on my blog before. For my review on it click here!

3. Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in 02 Peach Satin
This blush goes on smooth like butter and has great staying power. It gives my face a soft, healthy glow and the color is gorgeous. There's a bit of shimmer to it as well.

4. Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer in Ivory (Light)
I bought this after reading so many rave reviews on other girls' blogs and I'm so glad I did. I'm really impressed with it. It’s my second favorite concealer, right behind Mac’s ProLongwear. And it’s much cheaper! I still have to apply moisturizer under my eyes before applying it though because my eye area is extra dry, especially in the Winter.

5. Rimmel Lipstick in Airy Fairy and Rimmel 1000 Kisses Stay On Lip Liner in 049 Natural

I mentioned falling in love with both the lipstick and the liner in this post. Rimmel's Airy Fairy is now my all-time favorite lippie. (That's what the Brits call it!) It's a beautiful color and very creamy and it's not drying at all. And I love the smell! I could eat it! But don't worry, I won't.

Annabelle KOHL Eye Liner in 116 White
I line the inner corners of my eyes with this super-affordable liner ($6.00) to make my eyes look bigger.

Do you buy drugstore brands? What are your favorites?

Have a great weekend all!

I do buy drugstore brands :D I like Covergirl for Mascara, Revlon for stuff and yea, whatever is tee cheapest XD
(but I admit that it did take Chanel for me to actually wear makeup everyday. Since it was so expensive it would be a waste to not wear it so it got me using makeup every day again XD But I only got concealer and eyeshadow, everything else I use is drugstore stuff! :D)

I've always been a drugstore brand gal with a few more expensive products thrown in -- I love Almay and Revlon (cruelty free and the quality is great)!

I can totally relate Marie. Before watching the beauty vloggers on Youtube and reading the beauty blogs I was totally a makeup snob. Just MAC and a bit of NARS for me. But now I'm totally into Revlon Foundations, WetnWild eyeshadows, Rimmel lipsticks, NYC, NYX, Maybelline and even physicians formula CRAZY i KNOW!

I love Voluminous mascara! It's the only mascara that works on my rebellious Asian eyelashes :) I also like to buy Rimmel's Stay-Matte powder and professional eyebrow pencil. For concealer, I've been wearing the Maybelline's Age Rewind Concealer + Highlight, but I love the Mineral Power concealer, too. I'm gonna give that Dream Mousse blush a try. I love peachy blush :)

L'Oreal Voluminous is my favorite mascara of all time and I've spent $40 on a tube before... YAY for cheap, good scara!

I must admit I'm still quite a MAC snob :)) But it depends what products we are talking about - things like lipsticks or mascaras are not I thing I'd be willing to pay too much for and so those I do own are drugstore. But foundation, eyeshadows, blushes and such... well, MAC all the way, I have to admit. But I should look into some cheaper alternatives for sure!

the color of the Rimmel lipstick is so pretty! I love it ;)
And I used to swear by L' Oreal's foundation but I after moved on to Sephora's foundation and now I use bare minerals...A part for that I have too much of a Mac-Chanel-Lancome makeup crush but I do love the nail polishes from the ETOS (dutch pharmacy!).

white eyeliner is an absolute must for me...i've never been able to find one to last longer than an hour or 2 though :( i also use revlon colourstay because my mac studio fix obsession was geeting a bit expensive..and i think they're both as equally good..so why not go with the cheap alternative?! :)

I love the prices of drugstore brands, and I've looked and looked and tried and tried different things, but nail polish, lip glosses, and mascara seem to be the only drugstore loves for me, for now.

I'm a bit of a Clinique whore in terms of my small make-up collection is probably 75-90% from there. Though I'll swear by Maybelline mascara. And in terms of nail polish, Sally Hansen Xtreme Hard all the way!

I bought the Revelon Colour Stay Foundation shortly after you raved about it, and I absolutely love it! I think it's perfect for winter time (when I need a bit more coverage), but I think that when the weather warms up I will have to switch to something not quite so heavy.
Another drug store product I love is Covergirls Last Blast mascara. One coat and my lashes look sooooo much fuller and longer!!

Yea...I was really torn on the sleeved Thakoon one but it already sold so I have no choice, haha...the fabric sounded a bit cheap though so I would have felt weird walking around in it XD (it made plasticy swooshing noises...if that makes any sense)

Natasha: I'm so glad you like the Revlon Colorstay Foundation! You're right, it's very heavy and gives great coverage so I only wear it when I go out or I know I'm going to be getting my picture taken ; ) I use powder alternatively.

I pretty much only use drugstore brand makeup. There are a lot of dupes for high end makeup that can be found and being a bargain hunter, why pay more for the same product!

I'm a MAC girl. But I do use Bobbi Brown and Smashbox. Skincare is another story completely. The skin regime uses several products. These are some really fab products and I think I'm going to have to try them out - especially the blush and the lipstick/lip liner. And the concealer - I'm always in search of a fabulous product for the purpose of "concealing". Thanks for sharing!
