Review: Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub

During the wintertime my lips get extremely dry and icky. I live in a very dry climate to begin with so when the cold weather hits my chapped lips start crying for moisture. (So does my boyfriend who tells me I need to use Chapstick after I kiss him!) Every day I use either Burt's Bee's Lip Balm or Kiehl's #1 which helps to moisturize and protect them from external exposure but I wanted to try an exfoliator to help get rid of the dead skin on my pout. Since I heard so many rave reviews about LUSH's Bubblegum Lip Scrub I had to try it for myself. So I picked it up at LUSH for $8.95 CDN after work on Friday. I LOVE it! This delicious scrub made of refined castor sugar and jojoba oil smells so good I was actually tempted to eat it! But I didn't ; ).

Here are some swatches. The first pic is before I used the scrub, the second is after and the third is with lip liner and lipstick on. You can see how soft and nourished my lips look in the second photo, with all the dead skin cells gone.

For those of you who are wondering what kind of lipstick I used it's my new favorite shade from Rimmel called Airy Fairy. It's so creamy and stays put for hours. I paired it with Rimmel's 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in 049 Natural which is a pretty nude color, it's the bottom swatch.

Have any of you tried LUSH'S Bubblegum Lip Scrub?

that scrub is nice but it's basically sugar so you could make your own so easy, I first heard about this product on allthatgliter's channel and she said that you can eat it

I just bought this scrub a few weeks ago. So far I really like it although the sides of my mouth are still super cracked. I did try it, lol and it doesn't taste as good as it smells. A little too sweet for me. :)
That lipstick looks amazing on you.

I've been toying with the idea of trying a lip scrub (I've noticed lately that my lips are getting more rough and chapped in the winter than they ever used to) but I've never had a sense of what a good brand, etc. would be, so this is really great!

My lips are so horribly dry as well (silly Northen BC weather)!! I usually just scrub my lips with a toothbrush once a weekish.
I'm glad you mentioned what lip stick you're wearing...I really want to get into wearing it, but it's hard when I'm always kissing Vyla (last time I transferred red kisses onto her forehead...hubby was quite concerned about what had happened to her head..haha)...anyways aside from kissing cute toddlers my other lipstick problem was finding one that stayed on, and kept me moisterized! I will have to try some by rimmel!

Alexandra: I heard that too but I love the bubblegum scent of this product!

Mrs. Julius: I haven't tried Korres but I'm going to look into that lip butter. I hear Korres products work really well, I was actually researching their skin care line just a couple of weeks ago!

Marie this sounds great. It's been so freaking dry down here, too and no matter how often I use the Fresh balm, it still doesn't exfoliate.

I'm going to try to track this stuff down. Thanks!

ps re: taking time out: i highly advise. zero personal life is not exactly fun or fruitful. computer - bf, computer - bf: not good.

Hmm, I can really see the difference! I'm not sure how bad mine get, but this might be a good investment. I had a lip exfoliator before and it worked well, but I'm amazed how well this one seems to work on your lips. Thanks for posting!

Hi Marie:o)

First of all I would like to congratulate you on your blog - it's so refreshing and normal - and ALL CANADIAN!!!!

I went out and bought the lipstick and lip liner you had on - on sale for $3.99 at Shopper's - what a STEAL!!! And I LOVE IT!!!!! And I am not usually a lipstick kind of girl.

I just got the scrub today and I cannot wait to try it out tonight. BTW the sales girl at LUSH said it's edible - she said to scrub and then just to lick it off :o)
