Oscar

cardigan+bag - H & M    jeggings+ ring - F21   plaid shirt - Joe Fresh    boots - Payless   hat - LOST    necklace - vintage

I hope you all had a nice weekend! Mine was busy with a couple of birthday dinners/parties and filled with tons of of snow, as you can see. D. and I were outside for maybe two minutes taking the photos above before we started shivering and maybe swearing a little bit under our breaths and ran back inside. People are saying Spring is just around the corner but they're bloody liars, that's what I think! ; ) It's -35 degrees C. with the windchill today!! Anyways, this is what I wore yesterday for a day of running errands and visiting with my two and a half year old nephew (we watched Diego and made playdough pancakes.) I got the H & M cardigan for $15.00 on sale a couple of weeks ago and the jeggings were $9.00 during a Boxing Day special at Forever 21 last year. (Score!) The shoes from Payless are one of the most comfortable pairs I own. I also watched the Oscars last night of course which is my favorite televised event of the year. I get sooo excited for it! I explained to D. that watching The Academy Awards is the equivalent of  him watching The Stanley Cup. Here's what I thought of the show last night:

  • The highlights of the program were Melissa Leo's F Bomb slip, Luke Matheny's hair and Natalie Portman's acceptance speech
  • Anne Hathaway was a ray of sunshine with tons of energy while her co-host James Franco was about as exciting as saw dust with his smug mug and disconnectedness, is anyone else with me on this??
  • I thought Oprah Winfrey looked frickin' fantastic in Zac Posen

What did you think of The Oscars?

P.S. I'm on Twitter now! You can follow me here if you like : )

Marie,

I never would have guessed your outfit cost so little. You look pretty and so stylish, as usual.

Anne H was fun to watch and I think James is a bit weird. He seems very impressed with himself.

I'm doing a great ring give away...please pop over to enter when you have time!

Lovely outfit, as always. You do layering really well. And um, what great deals you found! I almost bought a pair of leggings for $38 yesterday. I really liked them and almoooooost went through with it, but then--thank God--some sense got knocked into me and I put them down. Sooooo not worth it.

I don't care much for the Oscars (nor the Stanley Cup, hehe)...I watched Melissa Leo when she got her award, though, and I didn't notice the F-bomb. Really? Where was I? I wonder if they totally cut it out of my broadcast?

I completely agree with you all all counts. Anne was doing her best up there and James Franco didn't even look at her once! He was completely self involved and just about as entertaining as a slug. And he looked high.
But all in all I still love the Oscars and I say the same thing except I use the Superbowl. "It's my Superbowl"
Grat outfit btw.

great outfit marie, i love your hat and boots. i cant believe how much snow there still is where u are...i hate to rub it in but the blossom tree in my back yard is in full bloom! haha

i loved colin firths speech...he's so damn charming and natalie's speech was just as gorgeous as she was. and i completely agree with you on the james franco thing. it was kinda awkward to watch and i saw some pre-interviews with him and he seemed so blasé about it all...he was either just super nervous or a complete jackass lol.

favourite dresses - michelle williams and cate blanchett (even though everyone has slated it)

The Oscars were almost painful to watch, Anne tap dancing her heart out to cover for the dud that is Franco. Thought Helen Mirren was the best dressed! Love those boots, can't believe they are Payless :)

I am watching the oscars as I type. Ypu are so right, James Franco is too bloody smug for my liking!! Anne H. is a ray of sunshine in comparison. Great outfit, love those boots. Can't believe all the sun you are getting. Ehhh, hopefully spring comes soon....;)

You look fntastic in that outfit.

I thought Anne H. was quite annoying and James Franco was bored or annoyed with hosting the show. They difinitely disappointed me.

I agree that Jame Franco was NOT exciting at all!!!!! Anne Hathaway was so great. Too bad-I really like him......

You look gorgeous. As for the Oscars I have to say James Franco to me seemed like the kid eating dinner at his friends house looking so uncomfortable but trying to be polite. Love your blog!

Agree that Melissa Leo's f bomb was one of my Oscar highlights as well! I really dislike Anny Hathaway though, she seems fake to me. If she'd just relax I'd think some of her jokes were funny!
Love your outfit btw, perfect layering on such a cold day xo
