Wedding Details & Inspiration

I kinda figured out how Pinterest works! I know I am waaay late in the game but better late than never, right?! Anyways, you can follow me here if you like. Pinterest has been great for wedding planning, above are some photos that have inspired me. And I can finally share with you some of our wedding details! We will be getting married in California (where we got engaged) this fall, it will be a very small affair, with about 25 of our closest family and friends and then a few weeks later we'll be throwing a party in our hometown at a loft-style event space (think brick walls, wooden tables, tiny white Christmas lights) downtown with approximately 100 people to celebrate. So I will get to wear my wedding dress twice! (I picked it out, it's on order and it's nothing like what I initially wanted, funny how that works once you start trying gowns on.) It's kinda like I'm planning two different styles of weddings though, which has been a lot of work. I have so much to do still! But I'm an organized person and I'm also counting on my Type A personality to come in handy in the next few months ; ).

Have you planned a wedding? Was it fun? Stressful? Or both? Let me know in the comment section below! And feel free to offer me any type of advice, I will gladly accept ; ).

I got engaged in Saskatoon on July 14, 2008. By the time I got back to Edmonton, and started planning, I only had a month before our wedding. A lot of things went wrong during the planning but we had an awesome wedding on September 13, 2008. My only advice to you is get everything in writing - that way there is no confusion about what you're getting and when. Congratulations again!

Could I ask what your reception venue is in Edmonton? We're getting married at they Yellowhead Brewery and it sounds kinda similar!

Hi Marie!!
We got married last year and had only 25 people out at Emerald Lake Lodge. I LOVED the size! It was such an amazing getaway and we really felt like we got to spend meaningful time with all of our guests who had made the time to travel there to be with us. It was really special, I think you will love it!
I can't wait to see pics of your wedding dress! I'm sure it will be just incrediable :)

How exciting! I love the idea of a smaller more intimate ceremony away and then a fun party when you get back. Good luck with your planning!

I'm currently engaged, planning it is easy. Paying for it, is not.

Pinterest is great for so many things! But I think there should be a big warning before joining the site, that you'll want to go out and buy everything that there is to buy!

Congratulations! The details that you have shared sound lovely! Love the idea of the loft style reception!
