Hair and Makeup by Cora Whitford (and yes, those are real piercings!)
Western Canada Fashion Week's impressive Salon Showcase on Sunday was followed by a night of Fantasy Hair & Make-up, an exciting performance by Firefly Theatre and beautiful new collections by Elise Truong and Natasha Lazarovic on Monday.
Cora Whitford showed off her amazing hair and makeup skills with her dark, avant-garde show. The models reminded me of characters you would see in a Tim Burton film. A very sexy Tim Burton film! Rated X.
Winners for the Fantasy Hair Competition: 3rd place - Olivia Tascone, 2nd place - Lindsay DeChamplain, 1st place - Rebecka Pichoch. Fantasy Makeup Competition: 3rd place - Cora Whitford (red creation), 2nd place - Cora Whitford (black creation), 1st place - Kim Peterson. Congratulations to all!
Three aerialists from Firefly Theatre took the stage after intermission to perform a breathtaking number that wowed the audience.
The cutest corsets I ever did see. From Sweet Carousel Corsetry & Apparel by Elise Truong. These models were saucy, sassy and full of personality which was a nice change compared to the stone-faced models that usually rock the runway.
My favorite show so far: Temna Fialka's "Malena" collection by Natasha Lazarovic. Inspired by her Romanian and Ukrainian heritage, Natasha captivated the audience with her gorgeously detailed, colorful, ethnic dresses and her creative and unique headpieces.
Kassandra, who won tickets to WCFW via my Twitter contest, and her husband Aaron at the show, sitting front row. How cute are they??
Life Update: The past few days have been a whirlwind! As you know, I've been covering Western Canada Fashion Week and if I'm not working, sleeping or eating I'm madly downloading photos and blogging! I've been extremely busy but I'm having such an amazing experience so far watching all the shows, speaking with the designers, meeting and befriending other bloggers and being submerged in all things fashion which I absolutely love! I hope to catch up on your blogs once fashion week ends and I have more spare time. I also hope to post my one-year blog anniversary giveaway within the next few days so stay tuned for that!
I hope you're all having a good week so far!

I think these are my favorite shots you've posted yet! And I'm so glad that you're having such a wonderful time - I'm totally dependent on you for coverage of the events since I can't be in Edmonton right now so all your hard work is totally helping me out big time!

You have done a great job covering this event Marie..and all your followers will absolutely understand how busy you've been!
Wow!! these are truly works of art!
amazing! all are like lady gaga style:)
The first picture ~The peircings behind that lady just to make ribbons is really hurtful for sure.
omg the hair is amazing, and I wonder if that girl did get piercings in her back for the corset!? eeek can you imagine moving your shoulders too much and then stretching them?!?! :S the show is awesome though, I always love conceptual shows
Love all these pics, and so wish I wasn't stuck here in Vancouver so I could see all the shows! The makeup ones are insane, and being the baby that I am, I probably would've gotten scared haha (I get so scared during Pirates of the Caribbean that I have to close my eyes...I'm weird). And I'm totally in love with Natasha Lazarovic's designs as well. They're so vibrant and full of life, and it's great to see her represent her heritage. Lovely post Marie!

Wow-crazy fantasy hair and make up! Very impressive.
I also loved the dresses in your Fav. show so far. They were breathtaking.

Amazing photos you really capture the essence.

Wow, everything looks so exciting. The hair is amazing and the cirque du soleil-like acrobatics look so cool. I went to a day of Toronto fashion week last year but it definitely was not as exciting as this looks. Have so much fun!!

That hair in the first pic is NUTS!
This post makes me proud to be a Candadian. We do have a fierce arts scene, just have to look for it! (ie: find your blog)
Natasha Lazarovic = fantastic! I must learn more about this person, the red headress is blowing my mind!
